1. Conduct municipal, county, state, and Federal district criminal records search in the legal jurisdictions that encompass the candidate’s current and previous residences. These searches cover the five most recent years.

A search of court records in appropriate judicial districts. Recommended jurisdictions to be searched include those associated with the subject's current and previous residences. Reported information will include court, case number, date filed, charges, conviction date and disposition.
 
2. Conduct a county civil litigation record search that includes examination of county files for pending lawsuits, legal action, or judgments.
A search of upper civil records in the jurisdiction of the subject's current residence will be conducted. Previous residence states may also be requested. Reported information will include court, case number, date filed, complaint, plaintiff, defendant, date of disposition and disposition.
 
3. Conduct a federal civil litigation search of federal files for pending lawsuits, legal action, or judgments.
A search of civil records in appropriate jurisdictions will be conducted. Recommended jurisdictions to be searched include those associated with the subject's current and previous residences. Reported information will include court, comments, case number, date filed, complaint, plaintiff, defendant, date of disposition and disposition.
 

4. Obtain and review a credit bureau reports.

A summary of the subject's credit history as reported by a major credit bureau. All tax liens, judgments, and civil suits will be reported if noted on the credit report.
 
5. Conduct education and employment verification. Education records check should be limited to the highest degree or education level listed. Employment records check is limited to the past 10 years.
Former employment will be verified to include dates of employment and position held. Emphasis will be placed on confirming wages earned, attendance records, eligibility for rehire and reason for leaving/termination.
 
6. Conduct reference checks by telephone interview of any supervisors for whom the individual has worked within the past five years.
